Kid's Art: Paper Mache Sculptures

The winter session has begun and the kids spent the first couple of weeks working on their paper mache sculptures.  First came the fun and messy task of covering bottles with layers and layers of pasty newspaper.  And then they each went to work creating their own unique character, using paint , fabric, feathers, corks and clothes pins.  I love how each is so different.  There's no pressure to be perfect and create look-a-like pieces, just lots of encouragement to explore and take pleasure in creating!

Masquerading!

To get in the Halloween spirit, this week's class was devoted to making masquerade style masks.  The kids loved making and wearing them!  It was so interesting to see how different and unique each one turned out despite everyone having the same materials to choose from.  Creative expression shining through!
